The BC Teachers Federation is still holding out hope bargaining will end with a negotiated deal, and not legislation.
BCTF President Susan Lambert says a negotiated collective agreement reached at the table, is in the best interest of all involved.
“That is what I am hoping will happen, I hope there is no will on the part of government to simply bully teachers through legislation, I hope there is a real genuine attempt to have things work out at the table.”
As teachers continue with what they call, phase one, of job action, Lambert says an escalation isn’t in the cards..
“No we are not contemplating an escalation at this time, of course that is always an option in the future, but right now that is not on the table at all.”
Lambert also admits it might be time to bring in a neutral third party mediator to try and get a deal done.
