More protection is now in place for sled dogs in BC.
The provincial government, BC SPCA, veterinarians, and the sled dog industry have jointly created Canada’s first “Sled Dog Code of Practice”.
It addresses things like health and welfare, nutrition, housing and euthansia for the dogs.
The government took after after CKNW broke the story of a mass sled-dog kill in Whistler after the 2010 Olympic Games.
