Bill Lawrence wins seat on White Rock council

It was a close race, but business owner Bill Lawrence has won a seat on the White Rock City Council.

Lawrence won Saturday’s by-election by 130 votes with a total of 620.

There were nine candidates seeking the position left open after long-time councilor Mary-Wade Anderson died in June.

Only 15-percent of registered voters in the White Rock area came out to vote.
