RCMP Corporal Monty Robinson has been found guilty of obstruction of justice.
He was charged with obstruction of justice in connection with a crash that killed a young motorcyclist in Delta in 2008.
He was off-duty, when his jeep collided with a motorcycle, killing 21-year old Orion Hutchinson.
The crown claims Robinson walked his kids home after the crash and downed shots of vodka to hamper an impaired driving investigation.
But the defense contends it was Robinson’s concern as a father that led to him leave the scene, and because he’s an alcoholic, he downed the vodka.
B.C Supreme Court Justice Janice Dillon says she doesn’t believe Robinson is credible.
Throughout the verdict reading, she said that he knew he was guilty, and he tried to obstruct justice by deliberately lying to police, and lying about how much alcohol he consumed that night before he spoke to police4 and before he took the shots of vodka in order to obstruct justice.
The decision has come back and Robinson is guilty as charged.
A date for the sentencing has been set for April 4th.
