BREAKING: Province announces reduced tolls on Port Mann Bridge

The province has announced tolls on the new Port Mann Bridge will be slashed to one dollar and fifty cents for the first three months, starting in December.

They’ll go up to three dollars in the new year.

However, should you register your vehicle by the end of February, that discount will stay in place through December, 2013.

Jordan Bateman with the Canadian Taxpayers’ Federation says the government deserves a bit of credit.

“No doubt the number one issue here is to get people registered, and government has actually done the smart thing here by providing an incentive. I know there will be some out there who consider it an election ploy–the fact the incentive period ends well before the election, I think, kind of takes away that criticism”.

However Bateman adds he would have liked to have seen a corresponding cut in the gas tax.
