The New Westminster School Board has heard from a consultant on how to solve the issue of a surprise deficit of more than 2 million dollars.
Board Chair James Janzen, “She gave us a fairly good outline of what areas were problematic. You know, what areas resulted in the deficit and a good understanding of what is sort of, ongoing and what was one time. So those areas that are ongoing, we need to pay attention to, and get them under control.”
Janzen says he thinks they’ll have to go ahead with virtually all the consultant’s recommendations, saying people need to have confidence the Board is managing their money.
It was revealed in September that the District had a deficit of more than 2 million dollars, after the Board passed a balanced budget earlier this year for 2011/2012.
