The forest surrounding Harrison Lake is the new home for a three-year old black bear that roamed neighbourhoods in North Burnaby for much of yesterday.
Conservation Officer Jack Trudgin says the animal was released there last evening after being found in a tree near Springer and Lougheed.
“This is the first time this bear has been seen in the Burnaby area. As you know, it caused a lot of phone calls and concerns to the public. But this time of year they’re looking for food and they want to fatten up for the winter.”
The bear’s been tagged, so conservation officers will know if it wanders back into populated areas.
