The mayor of Burns Lake says his community is continuing to recover – more than five months after a massive explosion and fire tore through the Babine Forest Products Sawmill.
Luke Strimbold says about half of the mill’s workers have been able to find other work – with an increased focus on the town’s social issues.
“We’ve got an active team, so they’re trying to regulate how things are going and what can be done in our community to make sure that we stay healthy as a community.”
Strimbold adds he’s happy with the continued focus from the provincial government.
Last month, the province gave more than $ 2,000,000 for an expanded community centre.
