Busy night for mounties in Surrey

Surrey mounties are investigating after several shots were fired at a house in the 8800 block of 128th Street shortly before 10:00 Saturday night.

“No one in the residence was harmed.  The shooting was not random and the residence in question was targeted by the shooter.  The incident does not appear to be gang-related.  The occupants of the residence were not previously known to police.”

Sgt. Murray Hedderson says there is not yet any suspect description.

If anyone saw what happened or saw a vehicle flee the area, they’re asked to contact Surrey RCMP.

Meanwhile, a man known to police has been arrested after a single shot travelled through two floors of a building in Surrey.

Hedderson says mounties got a call shortly after 10:00 last night, from a person in a building in the area of 133rd Street and 104th Avenue, saying a shot had travelled through the ceiling of their ground-floor unit, and was laying on their kitchen table.

“Surrey detachment general duty and Serious Crime members along with the Lower Mainland District Emergency Response Team members on duty attended the building.  It was determined that the shot had come from a third floor unit, and had passed through a second floor unit.”

No one was injured.

Hedderson says it isn’t clear whether the gun was fired accidentally.
