Capilano Suspension Bridge safe, despite weekend death

As RCMP continue to investigate the death of a man who fell near the Capilano Suspension Bridge, a company spokesperson says there will be a review of safety measures.

But Sue Kaffka says the current barrier is six inches above code, and they do not believe there is any cause for concern.

“It is an effective barrier at that height,” says Kaffka.

“Someone has to make a concerted effort to get over 48 inches.”

A 30-year-old Ontario man fell to his death on the exit part of the Cliffwalk Bridge on Saturday.

It appears he dropped something, and may have climbed over the barrier to try and get it, before losing his footing.
