Worksafe BC has issued an update on its investigation into a deadly sawmill explosion in Burns Lake back in January, but the agency has no real answers yet.
The blast destroyed the Babine Forest Products Mill killing two workers and injuring several more.
Worksafe Vice-President Roberta Ellis says arson and lightning strikes have been ruled out as a source of ignition.
As for why the blast was so powerful, she says they’re pursuing gas, natural gas, propane gas, and sawdust.
A U-S lab has been hired to investigate the combustibility of pine beetle wood dust, but Ellis says that’s just one factor in the investigation.
The probe may take another three months.
Meanwhile Worksafe is also investigating last week’s deadly blast at a Prince George mill.
