Charge laid in sled dog slaughter

The man at the centre of the sled dog scandal now faces a criminal charge.

Following an investigation by the RCMP and SPCA, Robert Fawcett is charged with causing unnecessary pain or suffering to a number of dogs.

He appears in court May 24th in Pemberton.

Over 50 sled dogs were slaughtered near Whistler after the 2010 Olympic Games.

The story broke on CKNW after Fawcett filed a Worksafe BC claim saying he suffered post traumatic stress from shooting and slitting the throats of the dogs.
