Charges likely in alleged drunk driving crash

LANGLEY, B.C. – A teenager is in critical condition and another person has broken bones after their car crashed in Langley, B.C. because their friend was allegedly drunk behind the wheel.

RCMP say the 19 and 20 year old passengers were in a car around 12:30 a.m. when it drove off the road, became airborne and flipped several times.

The driver wasn’t injured and was taken by police back to the Langley detachment, where he blew breath samples in excess of the legal limit.

Cpl. Holly Marks says the younger passenger suffered life-threatening head injuries.

Police are recommending charges against the driver.

He was released to family members and will soon appear in provincial court.
