Charges stayed in MLA threat case

Charges against a man accused of threatening a Vancouver MLA have been dropped.

Kimberly Burton Pollock was arrested in May of last year.

At the time, the researcher for the United Steelworkers Association was accused of threatening longtime New Democrat Jenny Kwan and her family.

He was also charged with mischief for allegedly throwing dog excrement on the roof of Kwan’s family home.

During a routine court appearance last week, a stay of proceedings was approved, but no one from the Criminal Justice Branch or Kwan’s constituency office has explained why the charges have been dropped.

Kwan was at the centre of a public political feud which resulted in the resignation of former NDP leader Carole James.
