Clark marks one year since voted Liberal leader

With this weekend marking the one-year anniversary of Premier Christy Clark’s reign as leader of the B.C. Liberal Party, both sides of the political spectrum are weighing in with their reviews.

Former press secretary to ex-premier Gordon Campbell Mike Morton says Clark has been sticking to her priorities.

“If we go back to last December, she did state that she had inherited a number of challenges from the previous government, the previous premier’s regime, which was true of course, the HST is the big one for the past year, the past couple of years.”

But left-wing pundit Bill Tieleman says Clark’s Family First agenda hasn’t connected.

“I think it’s clear that Premier Clark had high hopes and was intending to go to an election early on, and hopefully for her, be re-elected. She now faces a situation where she’s double-digits behind the NDP, and possibly facing some problems within her own caucus in the two by-elections coming up.”

Clark will mark her first year as premier on March 14th.
