The politician in charge of liquor distribution in B.C. says the end of federal prohibition laws against the private shipment of alcohol across provincial border is “no big deal.”
Energy Minister Rich Coleman says his government supports Bill C311 and will make it work for B.C.’s wine industry.
But he doesn’t think this is a big change.
“I don’t think it’s that big of a deal, frankly. I think it’s just another option for folks who are, let’s say, in the Okanagan this summer, they go to a winery and, say, rather than having to drive the case of wine back to my jurisdiction, can you just send it to me? I have no problem with that.”
Coleman says British Columbians can now bring back one case of wine, four bottles of spirits and six dozen beer or ciders tax free from other provinces.
