Combination arson/stabbing in Fairview

One man’s in hospital, another’s in jail after an arson in Vancouver’s Fairview neighbourhood.

Police first got a call of a fire and stabbing in the 21-hundred block of Fir Street about 7:30.

When they arrived, they found a 59-year old man with stab wounds to his shoulder and a commercial building on fire.

That blaze is now considered suspicious and the incidents are believed to be linked.

A 44-year old man was picked up shortly after in east Vancouver. He’s now facing possible assault, weapons and arson-related charges.

While police have yet to come up with a motive, they say the two did know each other and the incident isn’t random.
