Contract talks resume for striking CUPE support workers at SFU

Contract talks involving striking support workers at Simon Fraser University resume today.

1000 members of CUPE Local 3338 are in the middle of a 24-hour walk-out forcing the cancellation of numerous classes at all three campuses in Metro Vancouver, but SFU’s Don MacLachlan says there’s still hope a settlement can be reached.

“The good news is that SFU will be back in mediation talks with CUPE this afternoon. We’ve done four straight days of mediation with the teaching staff support union.  Let’s hope we can get back with them to a settlement as quickly as we can.”

MacLachlan adds no major disruptions have been caused by today’s picket lines.
