Convicted killer guilty of murdering wife

SURREY, B.C. – A 57-year-old Surrey, B.C., man has become a two-time convicted killer after being found guilty of murdering his wife, who was also a convicted murderer.

A B.C. Supreme Court judge convicted Thomas Robert Elton of the second-degree murder of 59-year-old Brenda Turcan.

She was stabbed to death at the couple’s apartment in 2009, and Elton was arrested at the scene.

At the time of the slaying, Elton was on parole for a 1975 murder in which he killed a fellow inmate at Matsqui prison in Abbotsford.

Turcan was convicted of second-degree murder in 1987 for killing her lesbian lover.

She and another woman strangled Mya Kulchyski and then sexually assaulted her to make it look like she had been raped, according to court documents. (The Canadian Press, CTV)
