COPE is battling rifts from within their own ranks ahead of voting for a new executive this weekend.
Brent Granby, a member of the COPE executive, says a group has rallied around Tim Louis’ call to break with Vision Vancouver.
“And offered them four places on the executive and so that we would run four the current executive and then his group would run four and then we would have a contested election for the other positions we felt that that would give greater sense of unity to the membership if we did that but that offer was rejected.”
While he wouldn’t call it a rift, on his website, Granby clearly says this Sunday, COPE has to make a choice.
He says they can continue to be a progressive party or choose the politics of division.
