Coroners Service to review Boyd case

The BC Coroners Service is the latest agency to review its file into the 2007 VPD shooting death of Paul Boyd.
An inquest was held into the death in December of 2010, ending with nine recommendations directed at police and health authorities.
Chief Coroner Lisa Lapointe calls the newly-released video “a very important piece of evidence.”

“We felt it was necessary to review the Coroners Service investigation into the death, and to review the evidence that was provided at the inquest, and we will then make a determination as to next steps.”

The video shows Boyd was not armed – and crawling before the fatal shot was fired.
An outside investigation will also be done by the Alberta Serious Incident Response Team.
