Crown seeks prison time in deadly crash

They are constantly reminded of her death, they can not sleep, they are broken.

The words today in court from family and friends of a 22 year-old Surrey woman killed by a drunk driver.

Softball player Kassandra Kaulius was killed one night in May 2011 when her car was hit by Natasha Warren’s van.

During victim impact statements read today, her family remembers her as their “golden girl”, and that a year and a half later, still they mourn her every day.

Outside her mother, Markita Kaulius,  reiterates the same message she has been carrying ever since her daughter’s death.

“We just can’t tolerate this type of behaviour anymore. People need to stop drinking and getting behind the wheel”.

She says the crown plans to ask for three and a half years in prison for Warren, who has pleaded guilty to impaired driving causing death.

The sentencing hearing is set to continue tomorrow.
