Cyclist will peddle you a line of…

Police in Abbotsford ask drivers to be on the lookout for a scammer on a bike.

Police say the man cycles around town, looking for women driving alone who are about to make a turn. He then approaches and tries to pretend the driver has hit him, “Then he will fall to the ground, start flopping around, swearing, and then suggest to the driver that this can all go away, there won’t be any need for ICBC or any civil proceedings provided that they give him a cash payment on the spot.”

Constable Ian MacDonald says three such incidents have been reported on top of nine claims made to ICBC.

MacDonald says the right thing to do if you’re in a crash is call police and, if needed, an ambulance. He says one driver did this, and the scammer told her he suddenly felt better and biked off.
