David Eby is leaving the BC Civil Liberties Association, maybe for politics

David Eby is resigning his post as executive director of the BC Civil Liberties Association.

But the move doesn’t mean Eby will necessarily run again for the NDP in Vancouver-Point Grey

“It really hinges on when the nomination meeting happens and whether or not that works for me in terms of my job with the association and my financial situtation and so on because I can’t be both a nominated candidate for a political party and work at a non-partisan organization that doesn’t make sense.”

Eby says he is looking seriously at seeking the nomination again but does have other career options as well.

He says the premier’s decision to run again in the riding is a surprise considering her narrow by-election win.

“We were very close in the last election and somebody running for the conservative party splitting the vote on the right and then with the popularity of the Liberals being where it is right now it was a surprising decision but we will see I mean maybe things will turn around for the Liberals between now and election day it is a province like that.”

Yesterday the Premier confirmed she will be running in the riding in the next BC election.

While John Cummins added his BC Conservative party will also have a candidate in the riding, unlike the by-election last year.
