Developer responds to former Prime Minister’s law suit

The developers of a new residential highrise in downtown Vancouver have filed a response to legal action being taken by a former Prime Minister – who wants her money back.

A day after it was revealed Kim Campbell is one of more than a dozen buyers suing the builders of the Hotel Georgia, they’ve denied any wrongdoing.

Documents filed in BC Supreme Court show Campbell’s purchase of a condo she’d made a deposit on in 2007 was slated for completion February 22nd – that’s a day after she filed action demanding the return of the $ 368,000 she’d already spent.

The original completion date was December of 2011, but lawyers for the developers claim contracts were signed extending the completion date.

Some buyers are already living in the 156-unit building.

Campbell’s case against the developers is tentatively slated to go trial in January
