Divers find Whistler cliff jumper’s body

Whistler RCMP say they have recovered the body of a 26-year-old man who jumped off a cliff into a lake two days ago and did not resurface.

The Surrey resident had been boating in Anderson Lake Friday and had climbed a cliff to jump off, something he had done regularly in other spots.

When he didn’t come up for air, his friends dove in and looked for him in vain, then called police.

Crews presumed he had died, and divers finally found his body this morning.

His family has asked that his name not be released.

The body will now be examined by the B.C. Coroner.
