DOA frontman goes NDP

Punk rocker, and DOA frontman, Joe Keithley is looking to make the jump into provincial politics for the NDP.

Keithley is seeking the party’s nomination in the riding of Coquitlam – Burke mountain.

He says his top two priorities are “Protecting the environment that is one of them for sure and the other one I think is like..it all revolves around finance so you think about a decent way of life for seniors and decent jobs for our young people so they can actually get to be seniors right.”

Keithley was asked about Premier Christy Clark who had him on as a guest when she was a talk radio host.

“Well I mean what can you do I mean obviously she has good taste in music but not so great in politics”

Keithley says while he may have built a reputation of being anti-establishment the move into politics makes sense, considering his championing of various causes

“Almost kind of tirelessly working for people and causes for years and years so this is a chance for me to do it formally right some people might see it as seamless but I see it as seamless.”

He isn’t sure at this point if anyone else will challenge him for the nomination.
