The owner of the Cambie Surgery Centre insists he fully cooperated with BC’s Medical Services Commission during an audit which confirmed two of his Vancouver clinics are illegally billing patients for services covered by Medicare.
Doctor Brian Day is reacting to commission chair Tom Vincent’s claim the clinics refused investigators access to financial records.
But during that same appearance on CKNW’s Bill Good Show with Michael Smyth, Day refused to disclose the clinics’ profits.
Day is currently taking legal action to prove the Canada Health Act is unconstitutional, but yesterday, BC Health Minister Mike de Jong backed up the commission’s findings, saying the clinics have indeed broke federal laws.
