Dropped 911 call leads to hours-long stand-off in North Vancouver

It was all for nothing, after a dropped 911 call led to an hours-long stand off outside a North Vancouver home Friday.

RCMP and Emergency Response Team members responded, brought in an armoured car, and evacuated immediate neighbours…only to find the home empty when they went in.

“All’s well that ends well in this case.”

Constable Geoff Harder says it’s not often they go in to find the home empty.

“It is rare. We treat every report as if it were real and that’s why sometimes it can look like we are taking, not taking our time, but we are moving with the public safety in mind and as well our own safety these things don’t happen quickly it is often a long drawn out event and we really never know until we get inside what we are going to find.”

He admits it might be a prank after a man called 911 leading police to believe a gun was in play.
