The Clark government will pass Bill 22 by the end of the business day, making strikes by the BC Teachers Federation illegal until the end of August. Education Minister George Abbott says he hopes the union then works with the government to choose a mediator.
“I do hope that Susan will take me up on my offer to provide us with some names of people who she thinks might be good mediators, and we look forward to seeing them go down the constructive path of working with a mediator.”
Bill 22 calls for mediation during a cooling off period, but only within the government’s net zero wage mandate….the BC Teachers Federation has complained that does not amount to “real” mediation.
