Some entrepreneurs wanting to open a new kind of restaurant in Vancouver are hoping they can stay true to their vision, but say they’re facing a roadblock from the Liquor Control and Licensing Branch.
“Just as an extra term and condition that they added to our license was effectively the banning of, the prohibition of video games for our venue.”
Brian Vidovic with EXP Restaurant and Bar claims there’s nothing specific in liquor licensing policy that addresses what they want to do, just policies that address things like arcade machines and board games, but they’ve still been told no.
An online petition calls for the provision that bans gaming to be lifted from the restaurant’s license.
It also calls for the City of Vancouver and the LCLB to create more licenses than just the current food and liquor primaries.
Vidovic says they want to open the restaurant in July.
