Evacuation order lifted in Abbotsford

The evacuation order that was in place for several properties in the Glen Valley and Matsqui Prairie in Abbotsford has now been rescinded and is an evacuation alert.

“The predictions that the River Forecast Centre predicted for us are actually lower and we’re at a somewhat receding level but maintaining approximately the same level, 6.3 on the Mission Gauge, and that’s predicted to be maintained over the next three days.”

Deputy fire chief Mike Hemer says two properties on River Road, are still on evacuation order because at one, the road is under water and the other property is surrounded by water.
With a second surge in water levels predicted for next weekend, Hemer says it’s expected the order will be reinstated but says they won’t know until those days get closer.
