Parents arriving at False Creek Elementary this morning were given a letter with some tips on how kids can cope with the disturbing find at their school.
Charlene Hiller has a daughter in kindergarten.
“Honestly, I really didn’t know what to say at all. I don’t understand it myself, so I’m not even really sure how to bring it up to her. I tried to say something small, but it was really difficult. I just tried to keep it matter of fact and short.”
Mariette smith says her kids had several questions on the way to school.
“I just wanted them to be prepared and feel safe and realize it’s a random act and it’s nothing to do really with our neighbourhood. Did they seem worried? not really, we just spoke about it now.”
The Vancouver School Board is offering conselling to anyone who wants it.
We haven’t been told if the False Creek staff member who found the hand has returned to work.
