Family offers reward after woman still not found after a year

A $ 5,000 reward has been offered for information to help find a woman missing from the Vancouver area for more than a year.

Angeline Pete, a member of the Quatsino First Nation, left Port Hardy after celebrating her son’s seventh birthday in April 2011.

Since she was reported missing the following month, North Vancouver RCMP have looked into more than 100 tips.

Cpl. Richard de Jong says Pete’s family hopes the reward will lead police to the now-28-year old.

“Some people are motivated perhaps by monetary gain. We’re just hoping again that somebody will do the right thing and come forward with some tips, some information that may seem trivial, but again, to give the family some closure.”

Pete’s mother suspects an ex-boyfriend hurt her, but earlier this year, police confirmed a warrant had been issued for Pete’s arrest a day before she disappeared.
