Finavera Wind reaches benefit-sharing deal

VANCOUVER – Finavera Wind Energy Inc. (TSXV:FVR) and the McLeod Lake Indian band have reached an agreement in principle as part of the company’s efforts to build four wind-powered electricity projects in the Peace region of British Columbia.

The memorandum of understanding signed by the two parties establishes the processes and sharing of benefits from construction of the Tumbler Ridge, Wildmare, Meikle and Bullmoose wind energy operations.

The band will benefit through training, employment, business opportunities and financial participation in the projects, Finavera said in its announcement Tuesday.

The company said the agreement with the McLeod Lake band is the second of five that it hopes to conclude, following a 2010 deal with Halfway River First Nation. There are currently discussions with West Moberly First Nation, Doig River First Nation and Saulteau First Nations.
