Fire damages garage full of plastic mould materials

A detached garage is damaged after a fire Sunday afternoon.

Crews in Surrey arrived at 120th street near 99th avenue shortly after 1p-m to find flames and heavy smoke.

Battalion Chief Gerd Peters says crews discovered about ten 45-gallon containers of product inside the garage that’s used to make plastic moulds for concrete stamping.

“No containers appear to have been breached or leaking and they did clean it up.  There’s some extensive damage to the garage.”

Peters says whether the containers should have been there in the first place is something that will be looked into.

He says the fire doesn’t appear to be suspicious at this point, but says that still needs to be determined.

The cause isn’t yet known.
