A former executive director of a Surrey-based Metis family support group will be on the national sex offender registry for life.
The Ontario Superior Court also sentenced Bill Lee to five and a half years in prison, leaving him with two years left to serve, a year probation, a decade weapon prohibition, and he must submit his DNA.
Lee pleaded guilty in September to three charges related to two children who were six and 11 years of age at the time.
The crimes date back to the 70’s.
Lee was a highly respected aboriginal policy advisor with the Ministry of Children and families and executive director of Surrey’s Metis family services.
He was charged in 2006, skipped bail in 2008, but four months later, turned himself in.
