Fraser expected to rise in Lower Mainland through Sunday

The head of BC’s River Forecast Centre says the situation with the Fraser River is progressing much as has been expected.

Dave Campbell says the Fraser River at Hope is expected to remain high through today before there is any real drop.

A pulse of water is working its way down through the Fraser, and ongoing rises are expected through the Lower Mainland today, tomorrow, and into Sunday.

He says at the Mission gauge, there was a reading today of 6.3 metres.

“We’re expecting that to go up to about 6.48 metres later today, 6.6 tomorrow, and up to 6.7 on Sunday and Monday.”

Meanwhile, rain is expected to continue for the next few days–meteorologist David Jones says the low that’s creating the weather, will be getting into Alberta and starting to dry out by Wednesday.
