The Minister of Justice and Attorney-General admits her government needs to do a better job explaining a test seniors must take that determines if they can keep driving.
Shirley Bond is asking the superintendent of motor vehicles to have staff visit communities to demonstrate how the “Drive Able” computerized test works.
The test measures cognitive ability, not driving ability.
However Steve Wallace, who runs a Victoria driving school, says changes need to be made….
“………a lot of the seniors are saying the test is unfair because they aren’t familiar with computers, and didn’t get a chance to practise.”
Only 45-per cent who take the exam, pass.
