Group rallying to “Save BC Film” to meet with Culture Minister

The group pushing to increase labour based tax incentives for BC’s film industry is meeting with Culture Minister Bill Bennett on Thursday.

Still, despite the meeting, Wayne Bennett with Save BC Film says no assurances have been given about any goodies for BC’s film industry showing up in this week’s provincial budget.

“Within the throne speech that happened last week, there was no indication of any kind of relief or assistance, so I highly doubt that there’ll be anything in the budget. We’re just going to continue to keep working and educate everybody and hopefully after the budget comes out, we can continue to encourage them to work with us.”

Wayne Bennett says he hopes to carry the momentum from this month’s Mustel poll into this week’s talks.

That poll indicated over 80 percent of British Columbians would support some form of tax incentives for the film industry.
