Group wants smart meter issue to go to referendum if government doesn’t stop program

A group blasting the installation of mandatory smart meters hopes to tackle the issue the same way the HST was defeated… through a referendum.

Steve Satow with stopsmartmeters-dot-ca hopes growing resistence will urge the province to pull the plug on the program.

“but if they don’t, think is the final card in our hands to play on against this whole program.”

The man who led the fight HST army to recall the tax, Bill Vander Zalm, says there are similarities, but…

“I’m too busy with other things, I dont want a smart meter… but I’m to busy with the HST.”

Satow says opposition groups will deliver reports of the safety concerns to the provincial health officer Monday.
