Hampered by a technicality at BCIT

No classes during the day at all BCIT campuses Wednesday except at the Aerospace Technology campus, as faculty and staff hold another one-day strike.

Teresa Place is President of the BCIT Faculty and Staff Association.

She says the employer has found raises of 2 percent for next year and 2 percent for the year after to offer, but the Goverment won’t allow them to pay that, “We are in a sector with 19 other institutes and because not all of the institutes can offer 2 and 2, however the majority can, they will not let anyone offer 2 and 2 unless everyone can.”

Place says they have to go with the lowest common denominator.

Classes this evening are still on.
