High schools off limits to stripper recruiting drive

BC’s Labour minister is looking to boards of education to stop any attempt to recruit high school girls as strippers.

Margaret MacDiarmid says she found it shocking an adult entertainment company wants to target high schools.

MacDiarmid says worried parents should contact their local school trustees.

“The boards are the one who have the discretion on this so if there are board sanctioned job fairs each board of education gets to decide it is their discretion and it is under their jurisdiction but what i would say to you is I would just find it astonishing I think once they are aware this is under their jurisdiction I don’t think that any of them would allow this to go forward in a school job fair.”

But MacDiarmid admits she isn’t sure what could be done to prevent recruitment off school grounds.

The Adult Entertainment Association of Canada says high school girls are an “untouched market.”
