Higher Vancouver park fees go into effect

Starting today, it’ll cost more to use facilities at Vancouver’s parks

Park Board commissioner Aaron Jasper says it’s tied to the cost of inflation.

“Across all of our recreational programming, most users will see a two percent increase. There have been some minor adjustments across the system, but those who are coming to use any of our recreation facilities – go for a swim, go for a skate – they’ll see a two percent increase.

“And that increase is really just to help cover the cost of doing business.”

The hike isn’t quite as slim if you plan to drive. Parking rates are also on the rise, with the hourly rate in Stanley Park doubling to $ 2.
