HIV AIDS pilot project gets a boost

A made in BC pilot project will get new funding and be expanded as of april first after it showed dramatic results in the fight against HIV – AIDS.

Health Minister Margaret MacDiarmid says bc is the only province to see infection rates decline.

“HIV AIDS related deaths have decreasedBC by 90% since 1996.”

Director of the BC Centre for Excellence in HIV-AIDS Doctor Julio Montaner says the program goes into communities, identifes those infected by HIV, and gets them treatment. 

“Stop HIV transmission dramatically, they already have, by 66% as the Minister told you. We are hoping that by bringing this program to the rest of the province we ware going to see some further improvements.”

The province is kicking in $ 19.9 million  annually into the initiative.
