Fire has damaged a house in Richmond.
Fire crews were called to a home on Williams Road near Garden City around 8:30 this morning.
They managed to put out the fire within minutes.
Battalion chief Greg Dean says no one was hurt.
“The call came in as smoke coming from the building. We were advised on arrival that it’s an abandoned house. It was all boarded up, so access was an issue.”
He adds the fire began in the basement of the house.
Arson has not been ruled out.
