The municipal observer to the RCMP contract talks says he doesn’t expect any answers on the cost sharing formula for the new Surrey RCMP Headquarters until early in the new year.
The forumla is being worked out in separate negotiations outside the recently signed contract.
With Mounties months away from moving in, Langley City Mayor Peter Fassbender was asked if the costs should have been sorted out before now, “Realistically yes, it should have been and it hasn’t been. And you know, we are taking a strong stand with the Province that we are not prepared to pay anymore than we are currently paying until we have a full understanding and we know all of the implications of what Green Timbers is all about.”
But Fassbender says any costs for the Green Timbers facility will not factor into looming municipal budgets.
