A BC Transit bus driver in Saanich was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries after a struggle with an impatient passenger at 10am on Boxing Day.
It happened as the driver was assisting a passenger in a wheel chair off the bus, when the twenty one-year old man kept trying to push past.
The driver told the man he could exit by the back door, but he persisted, so the driver blocked his exit to prevent injury to the wheelchair bound rider.
The man then struck the bus driver in the head, and the two ended up tumbling to the floor in a struggle.
Other bus passengers and pedestrians restrained the unruly man until police arrived.
He’s now spending the night in custody before going before a judge Thursday.
