In spite of opposition, Council gets a Rize from developer

Vancouver Council’s approved a 19-storey tower in Mount Pleasant.

Many area residents told Council during six nights of public hearings that the building at the corner of Kingsway and Broadway was too tall, too massive and too harmful to the neighbourhood’s historic roots.

However, the 165-million-dollar project was seen by the City as, ‘necessary’ for it’s plan for denser transit-oriented housing.

The project includes 241 condos and a large amount of street-level commercial space.
