Increased break and enter cases has Burnaby RCMP warning locals

Burnaby RCMP has formed a task force to crack down on those responsible for a spike in break and enters over the last couple of months.

Staff Sergeant Andy LeClair say the suspects have been door knocking, asking if you have a suite to rent or want your gutters cleaned.

He warns people not to ignore them: “They don’t have to open the door, but they need to respond to say “who is it? What do you want??” and call the police because if they don’t get that response, then we have had them come crashing through a patio door on the backside of the residence.”

The Imperial-Gilley neighborhood has been hard hit of late.
